Membership Rules and Regulations
Mission Statement - The Krewe of Seville is an organization dedicated to developing a network of compatible individuals who enjoy playing a “Pirate Persona” while attending various parades and charitable events throughout the year. Governing Body - The South Tampa Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors is the governing body of the Krewe of Seville. All rules, regulations, annual dues, parade fees, event schedules and other pertinent issues are decided by the Board of Directors. The Board reserves the right to make any changes, at its sole discretion. Dues - An annual dues payment is required to maintain active Krewe member status. Dues amounts will be reviewed periodically and are subject to change. Dues amounts and dues due dates will be made available to all members on an annual basis. Once submitted, dues are nonrefundable. Costumes - Costumes for Krewe members, sponsors and all guests are required at all parades. Although it is recommended that all costumes be of an authentic nature, the only requirement is that all Krewe members are dressed in “period” or “pirate” costumes from head to toe. The only exception is footwear. Comfortable footwear such as black tennis shoes are acceptable but it is recommended that attendees attempt to create a look that depicts a boot. Individuals who are not dressed appropriately will not be allowed to attend the event. NO JEANS ALLOWED. Events - The Krewe will be involved in different parades and events annually. Additionally, Krewe members may be asked to attend, or donate to, charitable functions for the Governing Body. Event schedules will be made available to all members in advance. Personal/Prohibited Items - The Krewe cannot be held responsible for any personal items and there is no storage room or floor space for personal coolers, backpacks, etc. Members and guests may only bring items that can be kept on their person. Firearms, swords, weapons of any kind and glass containers are strictly prohibited. If a member or guest violates this policy, they will be asked to discard these items or leave the event immediately. Guests - Positioning of float walkers and riders will be determined on an event by event basis. Handicapped participants, sponsors and Krewe members who participate in nonevent Krewe activities (working on the Krewe committee, helping with event planning and execution, loading and unloading the float with supplies, etc.) will be given the highest riding priority and best positions on the float. Because all floats are limited in capacity, it is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED that all participants share both riding and walking positions throughout the events. Float Riders and Walkers - Positioning of float walkers and riders will be determined on an event by event basis. Participation - The purpose of the Krewe is to network and attend various parades, functions and charitable events. Membership fees are not transferable under any circumstance. Each member is entitled to participate in all events or may choose not to participate in any events. There is no discount, refund or transferability offered if the applicant cannot participate in any events. Conduct - It is the intent of the Krewe to have an enjoyable time at all events, while maintaining an image that is respected by event spectators, event sponsors and law enforcement officers. It is important to remember that there will be children and young adults at the events and Krewe members should act accordingly. While in “the public's eye”, members, sponsors or guests involved in the use of repeated profanity, violence, nudity, uncontrollable intoxication or any other unacceptable behavior may face suspension or expulsion from the Krewe, without any dues refunds. If a Krewe member witnesses such activity, it is their responsibility to report the offender to a Parade Marshal or South Tampa Board member. Incidents will disciplined on a case by case basis by the Governing Body.
